Suicide

I know there are many people that at some point either thought about suicide or actually tried to commit suicide.  For those people that are hanging on by a thread I have a special message:

Sometimes it seems that wicked people seem to get their way.  They live in nice homes, drive nice cars and don't seem to have a care in the world.  'While good people suffer, illness, pain and poverty.
Medifocus.com,Inc.

I am offering you a ray of hope and a promise from God.  He will not forget the wicked.  No one leaves this earth without paying for their sins.  They will be remembered.

So hold on to that Shield and Buckler that God has provided.  It will not let you down and you will rise above all these things and the people that seem to torment you.

In the end you will get all the Glory..... Believe me.  Don't give up and don't left them win.  God has a promise.  When people leave you, its because he is opening doors so the right person can come in.  When people betray and hurt you.  Bless them and go your way.  Place them in God hands.  He says vengeance is mine!  He says if anyone dare hurt my little ones (righteous ones) it would be better then them to take a stone and wrap it around their neck, because they will not be forgiven.  God will bless you.. Just ask.

Ecclesiastes15-18

15:  All things have I seen in the days of my vanity; there is a just man that perisheth in his righteousness, and and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his wickedness.

(There is a good man that suffers because he is good; and there is a bad man that extends his life in evil.

16: Be not righteous over much neither make thyself over wise;  Why shouldest thou destroy thyself?
( Don't be to good nor try to be too smart.  Why should you kill yourself?)
Dr. Fuhrman

17: Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish:  Why shouldest thou die before thy time?

( Don't do too many things that are bad and foolish;  Why should you die before your time?

18:  It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this: Yeah, also from this withdraw not thine hand: he that feareth God shall come forth of them all.

(It is good that you pay attention to this:stay strong in your convictions; He that fears God shall overcome- He will rise above them all)

Race Track On My Body - Laughter is good for the Soul!

Free Shipping Store 120x60One of the most amazing events in my life and quite funny in fact are the chasing that Hazel and Sadie do from time to time.  Sometime in the early morning hours if my cat Hazel and my Shitzu/Bishon wake up before me they are off to the races!

It always starts with a little squeaky bark and a small meow.  Then they try to slap each other back and forth.  I know this because I am desperately trying to ignore them.  Then the chase begins.  They literally run circles around my stomach and feet.  Over and over again.

In the meantime I'm calming stating, "Sadie! Hazel! Stop it!"  Next thing you know Hazel decides she is going to run over my face.  Thankfully she is de-clawed. Whew!  Sadie however; is not.  Aye yi yi,,,,,,,,,

Thats when, "OK! Thats it! Stop it!"  They'll stop look at me like What!?  Me? What am I doing?  They quickly jump to the floor and its on like Donkey Kong.  Have you ever heard that music with a bunch of violins that sound like bees?  That is the music I hear in my head as I watch them chase each other from the bedroom and to the living room.  This goes on for about 10 minutes.

5% off any size order at dog.comThe run to the table.  Hazel will jump on a chair and try to slap Sadie as she goes by or tries to jump on the dining chair.  All you see is little swipes from underneath the tablecloth.  Sadie is standing on her hinds legs and nipping at the cloth and swipes.

But they love each other.  They even share the window seal if you can believe that.  As you can see they have the same personality.  I hope to post my pictures  at a later date for you to enjoy.  I hope you liked my story.

With puppy love and Kitty love

Take The Dagger Out And Live!

Heart Broken Comments

Sometimes we condemn ourselves by allowing the hurtful words, blame, and the choice that others make as if we should carry the weight of guilt in our hearts.  But the truth of the matter is that people make choices every day. Whether right or wrong, each is accountable to himself.   And each should not cast blame on others, parents, friends or co-workers for the choices that were made.

To some degree, metaphorically speaking we condemn ourselves everyday, by stabbing our own hearts over and over again from the pain of it all. We even make decisions based on the perception of others.  For example: How they want you to live, where you should live, and with whom you should live.

Eventually, we come to the ultimate conclusion. We can keep living our lives for others in order to please others and keep others happy.  Or we simply take that dagger out and live... We must live for ourselves.  I don't mean in a self serving way.  But you have to fight for your own happiness and well being.

Making tough choices is part of the painful process.  But what is best for you or I is up to us as individuals to decide. Sometimes it means getting away from the abuser, job, person, or family member that is causing so much pain.

Sometimes, that means washing your hands of situations and people that can literally make you ill.  Slowly we succumb to the verbal abuse, physical abuse, a sense of loss of self, your identity as an individual and over all well being.  Living everyday to please others except yourself.

Drinking Water Filter AQ-4601.55There are people who sincerely believe that no one can make you ill.   I beg to  differ.  Thats' why people suffer conditions such as:  Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, and Suicide.

I feel that the reason abusive individuals believe they are not accountable for how others feel by the words they choose to use against us as individuals; whether it be physical, mental, social, verbal abuse is also very simple.  It absolves them of any responsibility and accountability for their actions.  They feel nothing for you and your suffering.

So don't allow anyone to victimize you.  Take the dagger of condemnation out of your heart and LIVE!  Fight for your happiness! Bring your ideas to life.  Start your business.  Find true love.  Someone who is kind and kindhearted.  Work on fulfilling your dreams - whatever that may be for you.

For me, it was writing my E-Book "My Story A Mothers Journey," fighting depression, beating cruelty, vindication in a new found strength.  Realizing that I have the power to changed things.

I learned to allow my sons grow to be great men. Allow them to make mistakes or be successful in their own right. Of course, as a mother I will always worry about my sons well being.  I feel that just because they have grown to be young men, does not by any means define that they should no longer receive words of comfort and wisdom from me or my ex-husband.  We will be their parents forever... No matter how old they get.

I also realized that I  must take accountability for my own choices and live with them.  Good or bad.

I'm not going to keep saying, I'm sorry.  I'm not going to allow people to blame me for the decisions of others. I am not going to allow anyone to disrespect me in any form ever again.  I choose to wash my hands of such people and take the dagger out.  I choose to heal the inner wounds of my heart.  I choose to live! Live on my own terms...

Fecal Impaction - Family member

Recently, a family member was feeling quite ill.  They were complaining of stomach pain mainly on the lower right side.  There was vomiting and cold sweats.  Ultimately, the pain would range on scale from 1 to 10 between 7 and 8.  My family member began sweating and vomiting throughout the day; as well as severe back pain.  By the time my family member arrived from work it was clear they were ill. The pain was described as cramping and a sense of feeling dizzy.

I drove my family member to the hospital.  I was afraid it was a gall bladder problem or a appendix problem.  We went in and the doctor administered IV fluids for dehydration and Reglan for the nausea.  He also gave a small does of Ativan for the anxiety.

eVoice 30-Day Free Trial

The doctor palpated her body and ask how bad was the pain.  The pain was coming and going.  My family member appeared distended. And x-ray was ordered and blood work was done too verify if her white blood cell count (Leukocyte) was high.  Usually indicating an infection of some sort.White blood cells are made in the bone marrow and protect the body against infection. If an infection develops, white blood cells attack and destroy the bacteria, virus, or other organism causing it.

Active? Try the Dr Weil Vitamin AdvisorWhite blood cells are bigger than red blood cells and normally are fewer in number. When a person has a bacterial infection, the number of white cells can increase dramatically.
To continue, when the x-ray was reviewed.  It was noted that the entire intestine was full of fecal matter.  He stated that the fecal matter had no where else to go except up; if not out from the rectum.  Just like backed up plumbing.
So he instructed medication for frequent bowel movements and ordered his patient to stay home a day.  He instructed plenty of water, fruit and fiber.  Here is a Definition of five major factors that precipitate impaction from WebMd.
  1. Opioid analgesics. (pain relievers) slow the system down
  2. Prolonged inactivity. (sitting too long)
  3. Dietary alterations. (not enough fiber)
  4. Psychiatril illness.  (some anti-depressants can slow down the system)
  5. Chronic use of drugs for constipation  (laxitives)
Fecal Impaction can be very serious.  People can die from fecal impaction.  If you experience any of the symtoms go the emergency room right away.

Take care of your body by drinking plenty fluids, eating salads, anything green and fruits and vegetables, less meat, eat plenty cereal and oatmeal. (plenty of Fiber cereal) and exercise.  Just walking will get your bowels moving. Drink fruit juice.  Like the Dole cans of peaches or pineapple juice.

Another remedy that works well and is alternative is: Cascara Sagrada and Senna.  These are just a few.  Make sure you don't have food allergies before trying these remedies.  Eating something very hot or eating something very cold will also help you go.  A spoonful of Olive Oil, mineral oil, or drink warm prune juice.

To conclude.  These are just a few ideas to help you maintain a healthy bowel.  See your doctor if you notice changes.  Go to this link for more information http://www.webmd.com/cancer/tc/ncicdr0000062736-impaction

Save A Life! -The Death of Andrew Burd

Andrew Burd was a small four year old infant who was living with fostering parents Hanna and Larry Overton.  This child was placed in their home to be cared for and nurtured.  Unfortunately he lived his short little life at the hands of two very abusive people.  He died on October 3, 2007 at Driscoll Childrens Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas of sodium poisoning. otherwise known as Hypernatremia.  His foster parents were charged with capital murder.

Hannah Overtons' attorneys alleged that Andrew was not abused, but died of Diabetes Insipidus.  This disease can cause a person to have nausea, vomiting, intense thirst, lethargy, excessive irritability, muscle twitching, coma and finally death.  Which remarkably were some of the symptoms Andrew exhibited before his his death.
In the days before Andrews' death, his foster mother Hanna Overton, told a neighbor that Andrew was intentionally misbehaving.  She stated that Andrew made himself throw up and poop.  She alleged that he defecated at least eight times and smeared the feces everywhere.  Most people know that extremely spicy foods can cause diarrhea.  Hannah was quoted, "He's doing it to get to me."  No human being on earth can force himself to defecate eight times.

Free Child Safety ID Kit when You Apply! There are many indications that prove that Andrew was suffering from Hypernatremia otherwise known as sodium poisoning.  Hanna poured Zazarans spice into Andrews' sipi cup as a form of punishment.  The spice brought on the diarrhea and vomiting.  Hanna admitted that she often used chili or Zazaran Canjun spice as a form of punishment.

On the the day Andrew fell ill, Hannah was quoted as stating, she fixed two sippy cups with chili and water.  Then forced little Andrew to drink it.  The first cup was to teach him a lesson.  The second cup a form of punishment.  The he fell over, hit his head and threw up.  She picked him up the stated, "Beat the s*** out of him," in an affidavit.

This illness was not brought on by Diabetes insipidus.  According to the Merk McNeal fiffteenth edition, Diabetes insipidus can be caused by severe head injury after a patient has already been in a state of coma or death.  It was also alleged that a previous car accident in which Andrew hit his head in the weeks prior brought on the disease.  Andrew was not in a coma at the time of the accident nor was he near death.

This is a clear case of abuse.  Andrew endured the worse kind of neglect and abuse imaginable by the people who were supposed to care for him.  He was under constant video surveillance by his foster mother, Hannah Overton.  She often sent him to bed without eating for two days in a row.  She used the camera to assure that he did not get up to go to the restroom.

Then little Andrew defecated on himself and all over the bed.  Afterwards the sheets were removed and burned.  And the mattress was found under the swing set.  Andrew was forced to sleep on a piece of plywood.  Even the Overtons' own children, who are ages seven and five were not immune to the abuse.  They were also punished in the same manner with pepper or soap which was placed their mouths if they were every untruthful or misbehaved.

Andrews little body was observed by the physicians at Driscoll Childrens Hosptial.  it was discovered that he had a cigarette burn on his right arm and bruising to his arms and legs.  He also had scratches along his stomach, neck and head trauma.  There was also bleeding on Andrews brain.  The facts indicate he was clearly an abused child.

Further, The Annals of Internal Medicine state that Hypernatremia is usually found in elderly patients who may have been inadvertently prescribed an overdose of fluids via IV in a hospital or nursing home.  The American Journal of Forensic Medicine, states that infants who dies from Hypernatremia have an underlying condition or disease that predisposes them to an increased water loss.  If no underlying cause such as a disease is indicated, then the only other cause is parental or caretaker neglect as the underlying cause of death.

The news reported that Attorneys speaking on behalf of the Overtons are trying to seek a new hearing.  The attorneys submit that there were other witnesses that were not allowed to testify.  And also want to submit more important information that could aid their client, Mrs. Hanna Overton.  This case, in my opinion was tried fairly and justice prevailed.

On March 25th, 2010 an article posted in the Corpus Christi Caller Times indicated that the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals refused to hear an appeal from Mrs. Overton.  It appears Mrs. Overton will continue to serve a life sentence.  And her husband Larry Overton, plead guilty to a lesser charge of Criminally neglect homicide.  He was sentenced to five years deferred adjudication probation and a $5000.00 fine.

Little Andrew Burd is the real victim.  he will never see another birthday, go to high school, marry and have children or life at all.  Someone decided his fate for him.  Perhaps there is some form of mental illness in Mrs. Overton.  There are psychologist and psychiatrist at the state penitentiary who can assess this.  In any case, the state penitentiary is a good place for Hannah Overton.  It's far enough away from her natural born children.  Her own children will be safe with someone who will protect them.  Hopefully they will be placed in the care of someone who is more compassionate; for away from their mothers twisted idea of punishment.

Colon Cancer and my father

Pascual V. Ledesma - My father- Colon cancer survivor for six years after diagnosis.

I know the importance of regular colonoscopies.  My father was a victim of colon cancer.  My father loved meat and lots of it with plenty of gravy.  He was a lite smoke and lite drinker.  When it was discovered he had colon cancer in 2002, he had a colonectomy .   He was never the same after the surgery.  He would often appear pale, yellow, and weak.  My father used to pace back and forth at night because he was in so much pain. He was given plenty of pain medication that didn't seem to help.  My father was fighter though.

Pharmapacks

He was a prideful man, so he refused to walk with a cane.  He tried to be as normal as possible.  He fought for his life and won.  My father had chemotherapy and survived six more years.   I love to watch my parents hold hands as they walked down the bay front in Corpus Christi Texas.  In the end, it was a heart attack that claimed his life.  He died in his sleep at the age of 69 on October 26th 2008.

Medifast DietMy family, especially on my fathers side, has a genetic predisposition to cancer.  There are many things that we can do to help us fight cancer and our chances of getting colon cancer.  The following is from WEBMD.COM: http://www.webmd.com/colorectal-cancer/default.htm

"Colon cancer and cancer of the rectum usually begin as a small polyp. While most colon polyps are benign, some do become cancerous. Colon cancer symptoms may include a change in bowel habits or bleeding, but usually colon cancer strikes without symptoms. That’s why it’s important to get a colon cancer screening test, such as a colonoscopy. If the cancer is found early, the doctor can use surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy for effective treatment."

One of the earliest signs of colorectal cancer is bloody stool.  Rectal bleeding; sometimes can be mistaken for hemorrhoids. Narrow stools for a long period of time.  Bloating and cramping are other signs to look for.  Constipation, black tarry stools, nausea, vomiting, fatigue and weight loss for no apparent reason.  Go to World Village.com  for more information: http://worldvillage.com/what-are-colon-cancer-early-symptoms

The earlier you catch the polyps the better your survival rate.  Especially if you have a family history of cancer and are above the age of 50.  I had mine done after my father was diagnosed.  His detection saved my life.  My physician found polyps on two separate occasions.  This was in my early thirties and again in my forties.

Colon cancer is curable, if it's caught early.  Today there are many avenues to take.  There is the removal of polps and prevention, such as:
  • Report any unsual changes in bowel habits to your physician.
  • Schedule a colonoscopy. (Especially if you have a family history of cancer)
  • Don't eat to much red meat.
  • Drink a glass of wine with dinner
  • Drink green tea
  • Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables for fiber.
Watch your diet and try to maintain a healthy weight.  Go for walks.  You don't need to run to lose weight.  If walking is difficult try swimming.  Stay active and eat plenty of fiber, drink water with your meals. Cut back on fat.  Remove the skin from the chicken and cut the fat off of meat.
To conclude.  You're the best person to detect the early signs of cancer if you know what to look for.  The earlier you seek treatment the better your survival rate.   Know  the signs and seek help immediately.

Losing Weight

There are many of us who are at least 30lbs or more over weight.  Especially where climates are very very warm. My best advise is to start slow.  Walk once a week, then try twice a week and slowly you will see that your energy will return.  You will eventually reach a point where you can't seem to pass that plateau.  Example you have been at 150lbs and have done everything.  This is when you buy a video and work out.

ACTIVE? Try Dr. Weil's Vitamin AdvisorAlso get a physical checkup before any diet or exercise program.  If you can't speak while walking, your working too hard.  If you feel short of breath or dizzy, slow down or stop.  If the shortness of breath doesn't subside and you develop chest pain, stop.  Seek immediate medical attention.  That extra 30lbs can add many health problems.  Your chances are higher of having a heart attack, developing diabetes, developing cancer, high blood pressure and short life span.

We know that small portions or portion control is the key.  We also know that we can eat on a smaller plate of food instead of filling a large plate of food.  We learned to eat backwards, such as eating your vegetables first, drink plenty of water with meals, and eating your heaviest meal at noon.

Other weight loss techniques are:
  • Work on your garden.
  • Mow the lawn.
  • Clean your house or vehicle.
  • Take walks in the evening.
  • Play with your kids.
  • Try parking further then usual
  • Takes stairs instead of the elevator
Studies show if you exercise before bed, you're still metabolizing while you sleep for at least one hour more.  You can also try to watch the foods you eat such as:
  • Eat less carbohydrates such as potatoes, anything white.
  • Try brown rice instead of white.
  • Stay away from foods high in fat
  • Cook with olive oil or cooking spray
  • Try Wheat bread instead of White bread.
  • Try Wheat Tortillas instead of regular tortillas.
Remember portion control.  A small handful of raisins or an apple should fill you up enough before bed.  Trying eating peanuts or nuts before a meal to fill you up before meals.  This is a neat trick when your on the go and don't have time to stop for a meal.

Also you increase your chances of gaining more weight with products that contain fructose: such as sodas.  Try carbonated drinks or sugar free drinks such as Crystal Lite.  When your at a restaurant try these tips.

    Secret Inca Formula
  • Take the fat off of your chicken and beef.
  • Eat less red meat.
  • Try water with lemon at restaurants
  • Order a childs' plates for a meal instead of an adult size.
  • Eat salads.  Salads will keep your bowls running efficiently.
And lastly, try these tips while your at home.
  • Try Yogurt whips in the freezer instead of ice cream.  Add bananas, pears or apples.
  • Eat a small bowl of cereal.
  • Eat more greens like broccoli, green  beans and brussel sprouts.

Pick one day out of the week that you will eat what you like in moderation.  Such as ice cream or pizza.  Stay healthy.  Good Luck!  I'm sure you'll do great! And please pass the site to others.  You could be saving a life!

Speaking Up In Health Matters

I am not a Doctor or Nurse, but I have worked in the Health Care most of my life.  Always ask questions and get help when necessary.  See your Doctor and have your exams.  Early detection is everything.

The best advise I can give anyone about health matters is:

Think You Can't Afford Quality Health Insuranc1.  Always get a second opinion. 2.  Be your own Advocate.  Push your doctor to order test.  Even if he feels that nothing has been found.  And yet you still feel ill and know something is not right. 3. If he/she does not listen.  Find another one who will.

Case in point.  One of my eldest sisters was feeling very ill for a long time.  She was weak, nauseated, and was having a heavy menus.  She talk to her doctor who I feel is a great doctor.  But even doctors can make mistakes.  My sister is a social person. She smoked from the time she was 12 years old.

Her Doctor advised that she have a procedure in which the lining of the uterus was to be burned off with a net.  She agreed and they proceeded with the procedure.  In the following weeks she was a little better.  But I knew something was wrong, when I visited her at her home in Pecos New Mexico.

She was lying on the couch.   She looked very pale and she couldn't even lift her head from the pillow.  She said that she was still having problems and that she was still having heavy bleeding. I told her that I felt that she might have cancer.  Because all of her symptoms were not normal and the procedure didn't work.  I didn't want to scare her but I wanted her to get more help.

By all accounts my sister is a very active person.  She is constantly doing something.  Whether is was hanging out with friends, playing tennis or playing pool.  She is a active strong woman who rarely complains at least to this degree.  When I saw her just laying there with no strength.  I will admit, it scared me.

Active? Try the Dr Weil Vitamin AdvisorAnd we have a family history of cancer.  My father, cousins, and uncle on my fathers side of the family.

Thankfully, she returned to the doctor and told him she wanted a hysterectomy.  I am not a doctor, nor a nurse.  However, I have worked in hospitals most of my life. I was a Nurse Aid have experienced many things.  I do not promote hysterectomy for everyone who has a heavy mensus.  You must try every avenue first.  What ever your doctor may feel is best for you.

My sister had the hysterectomy.  Upon examining the deep tissue of the uterus; the test indicated she had cancer deep in the lining of the uterus.  She had pap smears and they always came out good.  But because of her persistence she saved her own life.

The doctor was very kind and apologized for not listening to her.  And my sister who can be gracious told him it was OK.  At least they caught it.  Like I  said before. This Doctor is a great doctor.  He was my personal doctor as well.  And he listened to me when I spoke. And helped me a great deal.

My sister was very lucky.  He found the cancer in its first stage.  It hadn't penetrated the uterine wall.  But was somewhere in between.  The earlier you catch cancer; the higher your survival rate.

But in all fairness, some illnesses cannot always be detected right away. Ask for blood work, CT. ect.... Especially if you feel that something is not right.  And every recourse you have tried doesn't seem to work.

Remember god gave us Doctors who are wise; but they are also human. Some cancers are not easily detected.  Such as in the case of my sister.  I still trust my Gynecologist and would continue to use his services if I lived in New Mexico.

Things to look for in Cancer of the uterus. From: Cancer Society

Important fact: Uterine Sarcoma must be found early.

The following is from the American Cancer Societies Web Site:

"The Pap test, which screens for cervical cancer, can occasionally find some early uterine sarcomas, but it is not a good test for this type of cancer.
The Pap test is very effective, however, in finding early carcinomas of the cervix (the lower part of the uterus). For information on screening tests for cervical cancer, see our document, Cervical Cancer."Last Medical Review: 11/18/2009 Last Revised: 11/18/2009
